 Canadian Association for Photographic Arts (CAPA) Competition Submissions

A selection of images submitted by Camera 35 St. John’s members for CAPA competitions during the season indicated. These entries showcase talent in nature, fine art, portraiture, and creative categories, meeting CAPA’s standards for technical excellence and artistic impact.

The 2016-2017 season was an outstanding year for Camera 35, showcasing the immense talent of our members on the national stage. The club earned an impressive six Gold Medals, a Bronze Medal, and multiple Merit and Honour Awards, demonstrating excellence across a diverse range of photographic styles.

Notable among this year’s achievements, Michael Winsor, Allison George, Jerry Curtis, Karen Chappell, Eric Bartlett, and Paul Nicol secured Gold Medals for their exceptional work, with stunning images such as Bowring Park, Norway, and Storm Clouds capturing the attention of the judges. Michael Winsor also earned a Bronze Medal for a remarkable series including Iceberg Blue and Newfoundland Sunrise, reinforcing his reputation for breathtaking landscape photography.

The Merit Awards recognized the skill and creativity of our members, with Eric Bartlett, Karen Chappell, and Joe Chase earning distinctions for their compelling compositions. Additionally, a number of Honour Awards were presented, celebrating the outstanding quality of work from Charmaine Young, Jerry Curtis, Marek Bromberek, and others.

In an extraordinary distinction, Eric Bartlett’s Eyes was Selected to Represent Canada, an honour that places his work among the nation’s best.

This was a phenomenal year for Camera 35, proving once again that our photographers are among the finest in Canada. Congratulations to all who participated and achieved recognition!
