Rediscover the Magic of Film Photography

Camera 35 members have an opportunity to step back in time and experience the charm of classic film photography! We're inviting members to take part in an exciting project using the legendary Canon AE-1 (download manual). This iconic camera combines the simplicity of mechanical design with basic electronic exposure controls, making it the perfect tool to reconnect with the fundamentals of photography.

Each participant gets 3 exposures on the shared roll of film. It's a fun challenge that sparks creativity and thoughtfulness as you capture your shots. Once the roll is complete, the film will be developed and revealed at a special club event, where we’ll showcase everyone's contributions. You can rediscover the tactile joy of winding film, adjusting settings manually, and waiting with anticipation to see the final images. It’s a unique opportunity to share the beauty of analog photography and connect with fellow enthusiasts.

Sign up now and be part of this collaborative journey! Let’s create something timeless together.

Camera 35 Film Camera Rules

To ensure everyone has a great experience with the Film Camera Shared Project, please follow these guidelines:

  1. Photo Limit:

    • Each participant is allowed to take 3 photos to ensure the roll is shared fairly among all participants.

  2. Timely Handoff:

    • Make every effort to pass the camera to the next person on the Who's Next list promptly.

    • Ideally, notify the next person directly to arrange the handoff

    • If that is not possible, bring the camera to the next scheduled meeting and hand it over in person.

    • Send a message to the club volunteers notifying them of the handoff using the form at the bottom of this page.

  3. Communication:

    • If you cannot reach the next person, inform one of the club volunteers to help coordinate the transfer.

  4. Camera Care:

    • Treat the camera gently and handle it with care to prevent damage.

    • Ensure it is stored safely when not in use.

    • Read the camera manual or ask for assistance.

    • Do not open the film door (like you’re stunned President demonstrated!)

  5. Roll Completion:

    • Do not advance the roll unnecessarily to avoid wasting film.

    • Check the camera settings before use.

    • Do not rewind the roll unless you are very confident that the 36 exposure roll is complete and you are familiar with the process.

    • Return the camera to the club executive on completion.

  6. Reporting Issues:

    • If you encounter any issues with the camera or film, notify the club volunteers immediately so they can address the problem.

By following these rules, we can ensure the project runs smoothly and everyone gets to enjoy the creative experience. Thank you for participating!
